Enriching and Strenghtening Jewish Life Together

The Birmingham Jewish Federation is proud to collaborate with these outstanding organizations to enrich and strengthen Jewish life in our community.

Together, we accomplish more than any of us could alone, and the meaningful impact we make is only possible through these vital partnerships.

Birmingham Jewish Foundation

The Birmingham Jewish Foundation is the supporting foundation of the Birmingham Jewish Federation. Together, we strengthen Jewish life, support Israel, care for those in need, and invest in a vibrant future for our community. By partnering with donors to develop personalized charitable plans, the Foundation helps achieve individual philanthropic and financial goals while creating enduring resources that address community needs and support future generations.

The Foundation helps individuals and families create lasting charitable legacies through endowment and other philanthropic funds. These gifts provide permanent support for the Federation, the Levite Jewish Community Center, the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School, Collat Jewish Family Services, the Alabama Holocaust Education Center and other Jewish and general community organizations and initiatives.

Collat Jewish Family Services

Impacting more than 130,000 members of the Birmingham community annually, the Levite Jewish Community Center is welcoming to people of all faiths, ages and backgrounds. We are a family-oriented recreational and educational facility that is open to the entire community.

Alabama Holocaust Education Center

The Alabama Holocaust Education Center (AHEC) seeks to educate the people of Alabama about the history of the Holocaust so that new generations will apply the lessons of the Holocaust to the construction of a more just, humane, and tolerant future. By preserving and sharing the stories of local Holocaust survivors and commemorating the events of the Holocaust and the lives of those who perished, the AHEC seeks to promote a moral and ethical response to prejudice, hatred, and indifference for the benefit of all humanity.

N.E. Miles Jewish Day School

The N. E. Miles Jewish Day School strives to create a family community of learners who value lifelong study, respect human diversity and are able to make informed choices about their lives. Our goal is to provide a stimulating and nurturing environment, encouraging each student to feel positive about him/herself and others while preparing each student to be knowledgeable, caring and contributing members of the Jewish people, the United States of America and the world. As a community day school we seek to imbue our students with a love for G-d, Torah and Israel and teach respect for diverse viewpoints. Our unique program endeavors to integrate Judaic and General studies, incorporating the highest values of Judaism and American democracy.

Auburn University Hillel

The Hillel at Auburn University is a small, student-driven organization that works to foster Jewish community on the plains by bringing together graduate and undergraduate students, Auburn University faculty and staff, members of Congregation Beth Shalom, and the Auburn community.

University of Alabama Hillel

Bloom Hillel at The University of Alabama serves as the center of Jewish life, providing students with opportunities to connect, learn, lead, and build community. Each year, Bama Hillel engages hundreds of students through Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, leadership development, educational programs, and Israel engagement initiatives. During the 2025–2026 academic year, Bama Hillel served more than 5,000 meals to students, creating a welcoming home away from home for Jewish students on campus. Bama Hillel helps students strengthen their Jewish identity and develop skills that will prepare them for success long after graduation.

The Birmingham Jewish Federation is funded in part by United Way of Central Alabama.
