Join the Alabama Holocaust Education Center for our annual International Holocaust Remembrance Day Commemoration. This year, our commemoration will feature Stephen Smith, past director of the USC Shoah Foundation and and creator of Dimensions in Testimony, a cutting-edge technology for interactive Holocaust Survivor testimony. Stephen has worked with Holocaust Survivor Pinchas Gutter for over thirty years, piloting Dimensions in Testimony with him, then working with Pinchas on a documentary and a book project about his experiences during the Holocaust. However, when Pinchas and Stephen first met, Pinchas could not remember his experiences during the Holocaust; he could not remember his sister, who perished at Majdanek concentration camp, and he struggled to recall many of the things he experienced while in the Warsaw Ghetto and in the camps. Through years of working together, Stephen helped Pinchas reconstruct his memories before recording them for Dimensions in Testimony. Stephen will share his journey of helping Pinchas reconstruct his memories, record his memories for Dimensions in Testimony, and share those memories with future generations, inspiring them to keep the history and lessons of the Holocaust alive.
