Birthright

The BJF serves as a connector to young adults interested in participating in a Birthright Israel trip. Birthright Israel offers young Jews, 18-26, the gift of a first-time, peer group educational trip to Israel. Funds raised by the Birmingham Jewish Federation Annual Campaign support Birthright.

In addition, The BJF reaches out to those from our community who go on Birthright experiences and sends each participant a t-shirt that says "Alabama" in Hebrew, in exchange for a picture of the participant wearing the t-shirt while in Israel, and some thoughts and impressions about the trip. We also have Auburn and UAB (“Go Blazers!”) available in Hebrew as well!

The photo above is of Birmingham's Nicole Berland wearing her Alabama in Hebrew shirt atop Masada in Israel while on a Birthright trip in the summer of 2008. If you are going on a Birthright trip and would like a complimentary shirt contact BJF Director of Overseas Programs Samantha Dubrinsky at samd@bjf.org or 205-879-0416.

Registration for Birthright trip occurs twice a year; in February for summer trips and September for winter trips. To find out about the next date for registration, visit the Birthright website at www.birthrightisrael.com
